The world that Mike has entered I had planned to be a bit on the dystopian side, though I never quite realized how much until I started writing and making the comics... but I guess we'll see about that.

In this timeline, Texas has declared independence from the U.S. sometime in the late 2050s. I figure if Texas ever does declare independence it will be for a stupid reason. So, after designing the sign in the comic, I realized the reason: Texas seceded in protest of the U.S. switching to the metric system (yeah, like that'll ever happen).

The little brick buildings in the background of frame 2 have the same outer dimensions as Wichita Falls' World's Littlest Skyscraper, which fails any definition of "skyscraper" that has ever existed. Always check your units, people.

Oh, and I'm guessing the buildings seen here are empty, and are only to scare off any Okies thinking of crossing the border into Texas.
